Photo Art Therapy Workshop

Light & Shadow: Photo Image Making Techniques in Art Therapy

This course is designed to educate mental health practitioners on various ways photographic techniques can be incorporated into both individual and group art therapy settings. By definition, photography is the art of recording light. Participants will explore the therapeutic benefits of exploring light & shadow qualities through engagement in a cyanotype photo image making directive. Digital-based photography techniques, benefits, and ethics will be discussed. Integrating teaching, guided meditation, art-making, and movement this workshop will provide clinicians with a foundation for incorporating photographic techniques into therapeutic environments.

 Attendees will:

-be able to modify the given directive for group therapy or individual sessions 

-be able to utilize the directive in their practice after participation in this course 

-understand how to utilize photo image making techniques to treat various client populations

-receive 3 CEU’s through NMATA if they are a licensed counselor, art therapist or social worker
